welcome to the East of England First Response web site.

First Response is a voluntary organisation that is manned by personnel from the Armed Services. Members of the scheme give up their free time to train and crew rapid response vehicles for the ambulance service. The aim of this site is to give the local community of Norfolk & Suffolk an insight into the scheme, the volunteers and additionally, to provide a resource for team members.

First Response (registered charity number 1077419) was founded in 1998 by Scott Bateman MBE. Scott’s father suffered a fatal heart attack. He felt his father may have survived his heart attack if someone with advanced life support skills had been nearer to hand so he started to research ways of reducing the time to receipt of ALS, thus improving the patient’s chance of survival.

First Response in the East of England started in 2001 with the implementation of teams using personnel from RAF Marham and Coltishall, this was closely followed by RAF Honington in 2002.

Due to the closure of the RAF Station at Coltishall the team disbanded on the 30 Sept 06 after 5 very successful years during which the team established an excellent reputation for their professionalism and commitment
